These Community Comment Guidelines ("Guidelines") govern all user interactions on:
- https://www.hanseongrevival.org/ (the "Website")
- https://sionsavedbygrace.blogspot.com/ (the "Blog")
(together, the "Online Properties"), including comment sections, discussion threads, and any other user-generated content areas.
By posting, submitting, or otherwise participating, you agree to be bound by these Guidelines, our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Data Protection Notice, and all applicable laws, including (by way of example) the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 of Malaysia (PDPA), as amended, the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, the Defamation Act 1957, and the Computer Crimes Act 1997 of Malaysia, together with the laws of your own jurisdiction.
We reserve the right to monitor, moderate, remove, or restrict any content or user account at our discretion, in accordance with these Guidelines, and subject to the appeal process in Section 5.
Blog hosting note. The Blog is hosted on Google's Blogger platform, which maintains its own content policies (https://www.blogger.com/go/contentpolicy) and its own moderation machinery. Content on the Blog is additionally subject to Google's policies, which we cannot override. Reports may also be made directly to Google.
1. CORE PRINCIPLES OF CONDUCT
All participants must:
- Act with civility, respect, and intellectual honesty;
- Engage in good-faith discussion of theology, Scripture, philosophy, and related topics;
- Refrain from conduct that disrupts, harasses, or endangers the community.
2. PROHIBITED CONTENT & BEHAVIOUR
You must not post, upload, link to, or engage in the following (examples are non-exhaustive):
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Hate speech & discrimination | Slurs, stereotypes, or attacks based on religion, race, ethnicity, gender, disability, or nationality |
| Harassment & bullying | Targeted abuse, stalking, doxxing, threats, or repeated unwanted contact |
| Violence & illegal activity | Incitement to violence, terrorism promotion, encouragement of self-harm, promotion of gambling offences under Malaysian law, or fraud |
| Defamation | False statements of fact that harm another's reputation, which may be actionable under Malaysian law (Defamation Act 1957) and the laws of other jurisdictions |
| Obscenity & adult content | Pornographic or explicit material unsuitable for a general audience, contrary to s. 233 CMA and the film/censorship laws of Malaysia |
| Spam & commercial promotion | Unsolicited advertising, affiliate links, pyramid schemes, or off-topic self-promotion |
| Impersonation | Pretending to be staff, moderators, ministers, or public figures |
| Intellectual property violations | Copyright or trademark infringement (brief quotation for critique or commentary may constitute fair dealing — see our DMCA & Copyright Takedown Policy) |
| Malware & technical harm | Viruses, phishing links, or scripts compromising security |
| Religious abuse of the platform | Content promoting groups or practices historically identified as destructive cults, or material attacking the doctrinal stance of the Press in bad faith |
Doctrinal scope of discussion. The Online Properties exist for the edification of the Church within the Reformed tradition. Robust theological debate is welcome; polemics conducted in contempt, proselytising for rival ideologies, or derailing threads into bad-faith disputation are not.
3. PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION
- Do not disclose personal data of others without their explicit, informed consent (PDPA principles; GDPR Art. 6 where applicable).
- Prohibited: full names of private individuals, NRIC/passport numbers, phone numbers, home addresses, private photographs, or financial details.
- We will remove such content and may notify the relevant authorities (e.g., the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) in Malaysia) where required or permitted by law.
4. MODERATION & ENFORCEMENT FRAMEWORK
| Level | Examples | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 (Minor) | Off-topic posts, minor profanity | Warning + content removal |
| Level 2 (Moderate) | Repeated off-topic posting, heated argument escalating to personal attack, mild harassment | 7–30 day suspension |
| Level 3 (Severe) | Hate speech, doxxing, threats, illegal content | Permanent ban + referral to law enforcement where required by law |
Serious matters involving threats to life, child safety, or terrorism will be escalated to the appropriate authorities without delay, irrespective of these levels. Content涉及 child exploitation will be removed and reported immediately in compliance with Malaysian law and platform-provider obligations.
5. APPEALS
Appeals against moderation decisions may be submitted in writing within seven (7) calendar days of the decision to hanseongrevivalpress@protonmail.com (subject line: "Moderation Appeal"), stating the decision appealed and your grounds.
Appeals are reviewed by a moderator other than the one who took the original action, where practicable. Decisions on appeal are final, subject to any rights you hold under applicable law.
6. REPORTING MECHANISM
- Use the "Report" flag on any comment, or email us with the URL of the offending content;
- Reports are reviewed by our moderation team, ordinarily within 48 hours;
- Anonymous reporting is supported;
- Knowingly false or malicious reporting may itself result in sanctions.
7. USER-GENERATED CONTENT LICENCE
By posting content, you grant Hanseong Revival Press a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable licence to host, store, display, reproduce, moderate, adapt for technical purposes (e.g., formatting), and archive your content in connection with operating the Online Properties, with attribution to you unless you request otherwise.
Correction: the previous version granted a "perpetual, irrevocable" licence extending to "promotional purposes." A perpetual-and-irrevocable licence exceeding what is operationally necessary is disproportionate, inconsistent with our Privacy Policy's data-minimisation commitments, and unnecessary for a ministry platform. The licence above survives only for as long as your content remains hosted or archived, and covers operational use — not republication in promotional materials without your separate permission.
You warrant that your content is original or properly licensed and does not violate third-party rights. You retain ownership of your content. If your content is removed at your request, we will use reasonable efforts to remove it from public display, subject to archival backup cycles.
8. INTERNATIONAL LEGAL COMPLIANCE
We seek to operate in compliance with applicable law in the jurisdictions from which our readers come. In summary:
| Jurisdiction | Relevant compliance points |
|---|---|
| Malaysia | CMA s. 233 (improper use of network facilities); PDPA 2010 as amended, including cross-border transfer rules (s. 129); Defamation Act 1957 |
| EU/EEA | GDPR lawful basis for moderation processing; note that the e-Commerce Directive 2000/31/EC has been substantially superseded by the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065), which as a regulation applies primarily to "very large" platforms and designated intermediary services — a non-commercial ministry blog is in most respects outside its substantive obligations |
| United States | Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act governs third-party speech liability for US interactive computer services; we do not assert that it applies to us as a Malaysian operator, but we adopt notice-and-takedown practices consistent with the DMCA style (see our DMCA & Copyright Takedown Policy); COPPA informs our children's privacy posture (see Privacy Policy s. 12) |
| Australia | Australian Privacy Principles; Spam Act 2003 (we do not send commercial electronic messages) |
| Brazil | LGPD rights of access, correction, deletion, and revocation of consent (Art. 18); ANPD as supervisory authority |
9. AMENDMENTS
We may amend these Guidelines from time to time. Material changes will be:
- Posted on the Online Properties with an updated "Last updated" date;
- Notified by email where you have subscribed to communications;
- Effective a reasonable period after publication (ordinarily seven (7) days), save that changes required by law or for urgent safety reasons take effect immediately.
Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
