The Word of God Alone Has Ultimate Authority
At the core of all faithful ministry is the firm belief that Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone) isn't just a slogan from the Reformation—it's the real way God rules His people. The Bible, written by the Holy Spirit through human authors, is perfect, trustworthy, right, pure, clean, and true (Psalm 19:7–9). It restores the soul, gives wisdom, brings joy, opens our eyes, lasts forever, and produces full righteousness. John MacArthur taught that God's Word is sufficient for everything a believer needs, fully equipping them for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16–17). No organization—no publishing house, no teacher no matter how talented—can add to or replace that sufficiency. As MacArthur said about pastoral authority: "The only authority that I possess is the delegated authority that comes through the Word of God."

Your Local Pastor and Church Come First
The New Testament pattern is clear: Christ established the local church, led by faithful elders and pastors who shepherd the believers in their care (1 Peter 5:1–2; Acts 20:28). These leaders carry the serious responsibility of watching over souls as people who will have to give an account to God (Hebrews 13:17). They lead baptisms and communion, practice church discipline, counsel hurting people, and teach the whole Bible to their congregations. No publisher, no website, no parachurch organization can replace this close, personal, covenant care.
MacArthur, speaking about what makes a healthy church, acknowledged that even media ministries like his own Grace to You are supplements, not replacements. "Grace to You is not a church," he said. "It serves as an adjunct... We can never take the place of the church." Your local pastor—who meets the biblical qualifications (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1) and is accountable to the congregation—is the one charged with equipping believers for ministry (Ephesians 4:11–12). Real growth happens through the ordinary means of grace—hearing the Bible preached, participating in the sacraments, praying, and enjoying fellowship—inside a local church where people actually know you, confess their struggles with you, and carry your burdens alongside you.
Our Limited Role: A Tool for Learning and Encouragement
So what's our purpose? We exist as a modest resource—a starting point for conversations, and a library of Reformed literature designed to spark genuine engagement with the doctrines of God's sovereign grace. Our goal is to promote the "doctrines of grace"—Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Perseverance of the Saints—not as trendy new ideas, but as the biblical gospel "once for all delivered to the saints." Through hymns full of doctrinal depth, careful Bible teaching, and carefully chosen works from faithful teachers of the past, we want to move your mind and heart toward a deeper relationship with the triune God.
But this role has limits. Reading our material can build knowledge and sharpen your thinking—but it's still your responsibility as part of Christ's body to "search the Scriptures daily" to see if what we say is true (Acts 17:11). MacArthur loved to point to the Bereans, who checked even Paul's apostolic preaching against Scripture—setting the example every believer should follow. Test everything; hold fast to what is good; stay away from every kind of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:21–22). Hold everything we write up against the Bible. Correct what's wrong, embrace what's true, and above all, do this alongside your local church family, not in isolation.
We claim nothing more, and we're willing to accept nothing less. We're fellow travelers on the same road—writers without any special authority—simply workers in God's field whose reward is the glory of Christ alone. Nothing makes us happier than seeing believers grounded, built up, and growing in their local churches, fed by faithful preaching and maturing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear friends, in an age flooded with online voices and endless digital noise, remember the apostle's command: "Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God" (1 John 4:1). MacArthur's whole ministry rang with this warning, calling the Church back to the absolute authority of Scripture against anyone who tried to take its place.
